
Marisa Portuondo was raised in the Key Biscayne community of South Florida and is a life-long Florida native. Her work focuses on business and construction law, and first-party insurance claims. Throughout her legal career, she has helped clients in various matters of all magnitudes. While she has had large successes in dispute resolution, including a successful multi-million dollar arbitration and contract disputes worth hundreds of thousands of dollars, she also enjoys working hand in hand with business owners, guiding them to success through a proactive business consulting approach.
Many attorneys fail to see the effects that legal decisions can have on the bottom line. Ms. Portuondo, however, has worked in Corporate America, earned her graduate business degree, and has her own experience starting and successfully managing her own law firm. These experiences have developed an insider’s understanding of the complexity and impact that legal decisions have on her clients’ businesses. Her first-hand knowledge and experience drive the Firm’s legal and consulting services for businesses of all types and sizes. She has also worked on construction law matters on both the plaintiff and defense side for over 10 years, allowing her to become well-versed in the negotiation of contractual agreements and disputes. Finally, prior to starting her own firm, Ms. Portuondo previously worked as outside counsel for various insurance companies, bringing a unique perspective to her current cases representing insureds on property damage claims.
Prior to attending law school, Ms. Portuondo graduated with a Master of Science degree from Florida International University’s College of Business and worked in the pharmaceutical industry managing over $60 Million of pharmaceutical raw material in several worldwide locations. While attending the University of Miami School of Law, Ms. Portuondo completed two internships at the Third District Court of Appeal under Chief Judge Juan Ramirez, Jr. and a third internship in the Miami-Dade County Public Defender’s Felony Division. A Miami-Dade resident, she is actively involved in the community’s civic affairs. Marisa Portuondo is fluent in English and Spanish and some Portuguese. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, boating, diving, and hiking with her husband and son.
